Journey of a River

As part of their theme on rivers, year 5 and 6 pupils went on a trip to explore the source of the River Syfynwy and to follow it's journey to where it joins the Eastern Cleddau. The journey began on a very cold, frosty morning at Bwlchgwynt in the Preseli Hills where we met Gayle Lister, from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, who was to be our guide for the day. Together we explored the possible source of the river in the hills, measuring and recording it's depth and width. From here, we travelled down to Pantmaenog, near Rosebush before moving on to Farthing's Hook where the river was now much wider and deeper. A picnic lunch was had at Llys-y-Fran reservoir before travelling on to our final destination at Gelli where the Syfynwy joins the Eastern Cleddau on it's journey to the sea at Milford Haven.
