Whitland Cricket Tornament



On 19th June two teams of pupils from years 5 and 6 traveled to Whitland to compete in the annual softball competition organised by Whitland Cricket Club. Assisting with umpiring the day's games was England test cricketer Heather Knight.

Team 1 consisting of Olivia, Rufus, Edward, Nicholas, Ceri, Catryn, Olwen, Deryn, Rebekah, Menna, Oscar, Steffan and Hana lost their first game against Meidrim by 11 points. The second game against Griffith Jones ended in a draw but based on wickets, they secured a place in the semi-final of the plate competition. With a marginal win of 248 points to 243 against Bancyfelin they were through to the final. In the final, they met Meidrim once again and this time came out on top, winning by 289 points to 219. 

Team 2 consisting of Owain, Frankie, Owain, Molly, Rhys, Aled, Shaun, Elen, Alisha, Iolo, Mia and Rhys lost to Griffith Jones in the first round by 218 points to 262. Victory was theirs in the second game against Llys Hywel winning by 265 points to 199. This was enough to secure them a place in the semi-final as best runner up. Unfortunately, they were defeated in the semi-final by Griffith Jones.
