Year 6 Cardiff trip
Year 6 pupils recently had the opportunity to spend two nights at the Urdd centre in Cardiff Bay. The three day outing began with a visit to Big Pit, going underground to experience the working life of a coal miner. After checking in at the Urdd centre it was back on the bus for the short journey to the Millennium Stadium where the children were given a tour with access to the press room, players changing rooms, hospitality suite, and the President's box as well as experiencing the walk out of the famous tunnel to the roar of a prerecorded crowd. After supper it was off to the international pool for some fun in the water. The busy second day began with an exhilarating speed boat ride around the bay followed by a backstage tour of the Millennium Centre. As we left the Millennium Centre the children were fortunate enough to meet Radzi, a Blue Peter presenter, who took time out of his busy schedule to sign autographs and chat with the children. An open top bus tour of the city rounded off the morning before a buffet lunch at one of the bay's many restaurants. The afternoon was spent engaging with science at Techniquest whilst the evening was filled with a visit to the theatre to see Wicked!
The last day began with some free time and a leisurely stroll around the Bay before a competitive game of tenpin bowling at the Red Dragon Centre. After lunch it was time to return to school.
