Key stage 2 pupils had a taste of the olden days on 4th November when they visited Llanboidy Market Hall to see the old fashioned underfloor heating system. A section of the hall floor had been lifted to expose the heating system which was housed in the cavity beneath the floor. A fire would have been lit in the stove and decorative iron grids bridged the gap in the floor allowing the heat to rise and warm the hall.
It was fascinating to see and the children loved having the opportunity to go down beneath the floor for a closer look.
Thank you to Hywel and Fanw for an interesting insight into the history of the hall.
