Welsh Wildlife Centre Trip

Pupils from the foundation phase visited the Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran on 16th July. In small groups, the children took part in three activities led by staff and volunteers at the centre.

They went on a nature walk around the park, looking for various insects, animals and plants that were on their nature hunt worksheet.

With cardboard crowns, the children walked through the woods, collecting all sorts of seeds, flower heads, leaves and anything else that caught their eye, to adorn their crowns.

Finally, equipped with nets, the child participated in pond dipping. Among the many pond creatures discovered were numerous pond skaters and snails but the catch of the day was a young newt.
